Roji II - Original Work

$2,450.00

Approx 60 × 98cm Acrylic On Canvas Original Painting Box Framed in Oak

Roji I and Roji II are companion abstract textural pieces that evoke the tranquil and evocative atmosphere of Japanese tea garden paths, known as "roji," where simplicity and natural beauty guide one toward reflection.

In contrast, Roji II explores the transition from light to shadow, with a slightly darker, richer palette. Weathered browns, and forest greens dominate, with a richer interplay of darker, more intense purples—mulberry and eggplant—layered with midday blues.

The texture becomes more pronounced, suggesting the complexity of worn paths where moss clings to stone and shadows grow longer. The texture is more pronounced, with rough layers and streaks resembling the weathered stones and scattered leaves of a well-trodden roji. Soft whispers of gold and muted white emerge from the depths, recalling the dappled light filtering through the surrounding trees. The composition suggests both movement and pause, embodying the journey toward introspection and mindfulness.

Together, Roji I and Roji II form a dialogue between light and shadow, presence and transition, inviting the viewer to walk a contemplative path through abstraction.
