Roji I and Roji II are companion abstract textural pieces that evoke the tranquil and evocative atmosphere of Japanese tea garden paths, known as 'roji' where simplicity and natural beauty guide one toward reflection.
This piece captures the essence of an early morning garden, where muted tones of soft greys, mossy greens, and earthy browns dominate the composition. Layers of texture emulate the uneven stones of a garden path, with subtle vertical and horizontal impressions suggesting steps leading deeper into an unseen space.
Hints of pale misty whites and muted blues sweep across the surface, evoking the ephemeral nature of morning fog. Delicate metallic accents glimmer faintly, akin to dew catching the light, adding a quiet vibrancy to the subdued palette. The interplay of rough and smooth textures draws the viewer into the meditative qualities of the roji, offering a sense of anticipation and stillness.
Together, Roji I and Roji II form a dialogue between light and shadow, presence and transition, inviting the viewer to walk a contemplative path through abstraction.
