Sencha is an abstract exploration of the landscapes and serene essence of green tea cultivation. The composition is anchored by pattern formation of layered green hues—emerald, jade, and chartreuse—evoking the rolling tea fields that stretch across gentle hills.
The painting employs a rhythmic interplay of textures, with soft, diffused areas reminiscent of morning mist settling over the fields, contrasted by sharper, linear forms that suggest meticulously cultivated rows of tea plants. Flecks of gold and subtle whites glimmer through the greens, symbolising the sunlight breaking through the canopy and the purity of the tea leaves themselves.
The abstraction is intentionally fluid, encouraging the viewer to immerse themselves in the sensory qualities of the landscape: the warmth of the sun, the earthy aroma of fresh leaves, and the tranquility of the scene. The piece transcends literal representation, offering a meditative experience, much like the act of brewing and enjoying a cup of sencha tea.
